Interactive and fun resource packs for a unique outdoor walking and learning experience
We’ve worked closely with Urdd Gobaith Cymru to create fun resource packs to inspire our future generation to visit the path.
Urdd Gobaith Cymru is the National Voluntary Youth Organisation who provide opportunities through the medium of Welsh for children and young people in Wales to enable them to make a positive contribution to their communities.
They are a natural partner to work with because two of their popular residential centres are on or very close to the path at Llangrannog in Ceredigion (West Wales) and in our capital city, Cardiff (South Wales).
There are over 55,000 members aged between 8 to 25 years old with an opportunity to visit these centres.
We think it’s an ideal way to reach out to young people in Wales, our future generation and spread the word about our amazing path for a unique outdoor walking learning experience.
They are bright and colourful in design. There is two available, one each for Llangrannog and Cardiff Bay centres.
Each resource pack is tailored around suggested walks near the centre’s location on the path. The Wales Coast Path provides the inspirational backdrop to inspire and encourage participants to learn more about the local area in a group session led by an Urdd leader.
There are walking routes and directions along the Wales Coast Path with approximate walk time and distances. The illustrative maps show points of interest along the way. The routes are themed according to what you can hear and see on the path.
For example, one theme for Llangrannog is about “Pirates, Poets and Porpoises”. In Cardiff Bay, there is a route called “Time Travel – Bay and Barrage”.
The first half of the pack is for the Urdd leader and it has lots of interesting information and fun facts about the points of interest. There are then activities to do with the group – based on the school curriculum. The activity answers are also provided and is a useful document for the Urdd leader to refer to during the group session.
The second half of the pack is a Children’s Activity Pack. There is space for them to complete the activities by writing and drawing their answers on it.
You can download and print the resource pack entirely and choose which route to take your group out on.
The first section is kept by the Urdd leader and copies of the Children’s Activity Pack can be given to the group to fill in.
Clipboards and pens may be useful to lean on to complete the activities.
We want you to have a great time on the path safe fully.
Our Plan Your Visit page which has useful advice about visiting the path safely. You can also check exactly where you are going with our interactive map.
