Accessible walks
Places suitable for limited mobility
The Wales Coast Path can be enjoyed by everyone. Its 870-mile length includes plenty of stretches suitable for wheelchair users, families with buggies and visitors with limited mobility.
Information about accesssible routes
We have worked with Experience Community a not for profit community interest company that helps disabled people access the outdoors more easily. On some of these routes, they have checked the route in person with their mobility equipment.
They have gathered information like slope, path gradient and any potential barriers to help you decide whether it is suitable for your ability. This information is on the Photo Trails website. There is an online map of the route with photographs at significant points along the route and provides detailed descriptions of the path. These include locations of handrails, benches for resting, and the path's gradient.
Look out for any itineraries which have been checked by Experience Community - they will have the words "Photo Trails" in the title.
Information sheets
There are downloadable information sheets for some of the accessible routes and they are web accessible. This means the text can be read out by text-to-speech software. You can listen to the speech in either Welsh or English. The Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) provide natural sounding Welsh language text-to-speech voices which are available for Windows systems only. Welsh accent versions are available in Welsh language and English language. Request the voices from the RNIB website
